ITINERARY

Day 1

We begin the tour from the city of Puerto Maldonado, boarding a motorboat for a 40-minute cruise along the majestic Madre de Dios River. We reach the trailhead, where the Tambopata National Reserve checkpoint is located 150 meters away. Then we`ll continue our approximately 1-hour hike (2.7 km). Along the trail with our expert naturalist guide, you can enjoy and learn about the rich flora (kapok trees, iron wood trees, giant fig trees, palm trees, etc.) and diverse fauna (monkeys, macaws, squirrels, sloths, etc.). At the end of the trail is the lake dock, and with the help of a rowing canoe, we will navigate for approximately 30 minutes to our lakeside lodge, where we will provide you comfortable rooms with private bathrooms. After enjoying our lunch and a rest, we will go out by canoe to explore the shores of the lake in search of more fauna such as monkeys, herons, wild ducks, hoatzins, caimans, the wonderful giant river otter and much more. At the same time, we will marvel our eyes with the Amazonian sunset. At the end of the afternoon, we will return to our lodge for dinner. Afterwards, we will have one hour night walk, an exclusive moment to enjoy the inhabitants of the night such as insects, spiders, tarantulas, frogs, reptiles and with luck, some nocturnal birds or mammals such as armadillos, sloths, kinkajou, night monkeys, etc. So, in this way we end the day and return to the lodge to rest.

Day 2

Very early in the morning, we’ll visit the lake to enjoy the sunrise and a radiant sunrise, a great time to enjoy the wildlife such as macaws, parrots, toucans, howler monkeys, caimans, kingfishers, giant otters, and more. Then we´ll return back to our lodge for a delicious breakfast before getting ready for our return trip to the city of Puerto Maldonado.
